Murder of 3-yr-old relative: Local to enter defence

Kota Kinabalu: A 31-year-old local was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of murdering his three-year-old relative.High Court Judge Datuk Nurchaya Arshad made the order on Mohd Saifulrizan Sainan on Wednesday.She ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against him and fixed March 2 for Saifulrizan's defence.

Saifulrizan told the court that he would give his defence under oath.Counsel Ram Singh, who represented Saifulrizan, said they would be calling one witness in their defence.Saifulrizan is accused of committing the offence at 7am on Nov 21, 2014 in a stream at Kampung Jempangah in Beaufort.He faces the death sentence if convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Gan Peng Kun appeared for the prosecution.Meanwhile, the trial of a 34-year-old man has been rescheduled to March 27-30.
