Mohd Fazeli takes top honour at City Day Open Regatta

Kota Kinabalu: Wan Mohd Fazeli Wan Zin took the top honour in the 18th City Day Open Regatta International 470 class which ended at the Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) on Sunday.He and crew member Mohd Kahirul beat veteran sailor Leonard Chin and crew Sofia Lena William to take the overall title ahead of another six participants. In third place was Irwan Satia with Hafiszam as his crew.

Wan Mohd Fazeli and Irwan with their crews also finished first and second in the Open category with Muhd Helmy Yusri and Muhd Aiman Zulkafli in third.

Leonard and Sofia were top in the veteran category followed by Negel Blundell/Gordon Lee, and Michael R Hastie/Dr Ho Siang Boom (final day) and Sheirhan (day one). There were only two winners in the International 420 class with Zaifah Zairie Haidy and Syahin Wazien emerging top while Samuel Wong and Muhd Aiman Syafia took second place.

In the Laser overall, Mohd Mostaman Ismail was the winner. Second place went to Ganesha Grant with Afwan Amir Harun in third.

Sabah revenue hits RM6.97 billion: Hajiji says GRS State Government may see full term

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.

The top three in the Laser Radial class were Afwan, Ambigavalli and Lim Jenn Hau while the winners in the Laser Radiant class were Mohd Mostawan, Ian Yong Wai Ching and Muhd Fadzlin Hassan.

Nur Aisah Rose Ramlee took the overall title in the Laser 4.7 class followed by Gabriel Marygrace Yong Poquita and Awang Hazirul Awang Tuah.

The Optimist overall title went to Mohd Shahieran Raiman with Muhd Aiman Adam Mohd Firdaus in second place and Mohd Azmi in third. All three were also the top three winners in Division A.

Division B was won by Tim Wong Xiang followed by Muhd Asnawi Iqbal Adam and Syazwi Thaqif while the top three winners in Division C were Laurenz Leonard Daim, Zeti Irdina Zainal and Mohd Aiman Najmi.

In the novice category, Heu Xin Yee came top with Mohd Ibtisam Danish Mohd Hamdan and Kynaston Lim Jien Khong finished in second and third place.

Darron Chin, Abdin Aliakbar and Assoc. Prof. Dr Jason Teo Tze Wi were the top three winners in the Race Boat Open Overall and top three in the Starboard Phantom overall went to Timothy Ching, Mohd Hanafee Hj Abd Latip and Yeoh Lai Hoon.

City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai in his closing speech read by City Hall Director General Joannes Solidau congratulated KYC and its organising committee, Sabah Sailing Association and teachers from the Education Ministry for their joint effort to ensure the success of the event held in conjunction with the City Day celebration.
