Park to defend SGCC title

Kota Kinabalu: Park Sang Ho is set to defend his men's title at the 29th SGCC Amateur Open to be held at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) from March 24-26.SGCC President Datuk Peter Khoo in a press conference held at the clubhouse on Monday said the local based Korean who beat former Sukma champion Albright Chong for the title last year has signed up for the tournament but Nurul Syahirah Nasir is not available to defend her ladies title due to other commitment."Park with handicap one is expected to face serious challenge from Sarawak's seasoned player Lee Ka Tung, former Sukma player Jordan Mobijohn and Fazley Chua, Safarrudin Abidin from Sandakan, Alexander Lau and Chua Poh Guan from SGCC, Lim Kim Huat from Labuan as well as teenagers Casper Loh, Eldrick Chong and Christopher James."

As for the ladies, Khoo said the event may not be staged if there are less than 12 players registered but if it does go ahead, Jacqueline Lau who has just returned from United State with handicap of three is the favourite for the title.He added that the net events are open to those with handicap 12 and below for men and 24 and below for ladies.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
