M-cyclist killed in mishap

Kota Kinabalu: A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion seriously injured in an accident between the motorcycle they were on and a trailer lorry near a junction to a factory along Jalan KKIP here, on Monday. Freaddysiswanto Jaihya, 21, a Dusun man from Kota Marudu succumbed to severe injuries at the scene in the 8.30am mishap.

His 18-year-old pillion, also a Dusun from Kota Marudu, sustained serious injuries to his head.

The direction they were headed when the collision took place was not immediately known.

City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra urged those with information on the trailer lorry registration number to go to the nearest police station to facilitate investigations.

In a separate accident, three people, including a policeman, sustained injuries when their vehicles, a motorcycle and a Kancil, collided near the Deasoka traffic lights at about 10am the same day.

It was learnt that the Kancil, driven by a 44-year-old woman who was with her passenger, a 69-year-old woman, was about to make a turn into a junction when the 30-year-old policeman who was riding the motorcycle came crashing into them.

All three were subsequently rushed to the hospital by personnel from the Civil Defence Force.

Sabah Civil Defence Force Director Col. Mulliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said their team rushed the Kancil passenger to the hospital, while the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital by paramedics. - Jimmy Goh
