Kuching: Local food chain The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) aims to open two more outlets in Sarawak and another three in Sabah in the next two to three years.Since its establishment 17 years ago, the company now has 89 outlets, including one each in Brunei, Myanmar and Singapore, said Chief Executive Officer Wong Kah Lin.

Speaking to reporters after the official launch of its second outlet in the state at Vivacity Megamall here today, she said the response to the restaurant from Sarawakians had been very encouraging.

"We are now eyeing other major towns like Sibu or Bintulu for our next outlet.

"We are also awaiting the completion of the Sarawak Aeon Building for our second outlet in Kuching," she said, adding the company also has an outlet in Miri.

As Malaysia's leading halal family restaurant chain, Wong said TCRS had always been the place for Malaysians to come together and enjoy authentic Malaysian meals.

"Our menu features more than 25 local favourites, such as Hainanese curry chicken, special Penang Chai Boay (spicy mixed vegetables), stuffed fish balls and Penang rojak.

"Our chicken meals are traditionally prepared, either steamed, roasted or grilled to make for healthier meals.

"This distinguishes us from other similar shops," she said.

Wong also said TCRS was also well-known for its attractive value meals and promotions. – Bernama
