Technician's molest case for re-mention next month

Kota Kinabalu: A local technician charged with molesting a woman will have his case re-mentioned on Aug 23.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus set the date for Osman Hussin following an application by his counsel to have another case management date.Osman, 30, is still maintaining his innocence to committing the offence on a 33-year-old woman at 10.40pm on June 6 at the staircase of a block at University Apartment 1, Jalan Sulaman.

He had on June 20 claimed trial to the charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or with a fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments on conviction.Osman, who was represented by counsel Mohd Shahirulrazi, was released on an extended bail of RM3,000 in two sureties.In another case, two people were fined after they admitted to having drugs.Ani Muhammad, 27, was ordered to pay a fine of RM5,500 or 12 months' jail for having 2.86gm of syabu on April 10, while Husairi Jul, 26, was fined RM2,500 or eight months' jail for having 0.05gm of syabu in Sembulan on Feb 13.

They were each charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both on conviction.Meanwhile, one Azibar Umdan was sentenced to eight months jail for taking drugs on June 26 here.

The offence under Section 15(1) of the of the Dangerous Drug Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail on conviction.In another development, the court set Aug 10 for the trial of a man charged with taking drugs for the third time.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
