Kota Kinabalu: It's show time again for the local amateur boxers here now that the organising committee have confirmed that the Mayor's Cup will be held early next month.Briefing the programmes and other activities of the three-day boxing event to Kota Kinabalu Mayor Yeo Boon Hai in his office last Friday, Sabah Boxing Association's organising chairman John Andriano said the Mayor's Cup tournament is scheduled to be held on August 3-6 at the Damai community centre.John said there will be a total of 13 teams from various organisations in the State capital's nearby areas who have confirmed their participation in this year's much awaited tournament.

"We are also happy to announce that boxers from Sarawak will also be participating in the scheduled boxing matches," he told the Mayor during the courtesy call.He said the participating teams include those from Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Sandakan, Penampang, Papar, Keningau, Tenom, Tawau, Kota Belud, Tambunan, Tuaran, Armed Forces and 1st Division Armed Forces Sarawak.John said the matches will be held daily from 2pm to 5pm and is designed to promote boxing among young Sabahans."The Mayor's Challenge Trophy is again expected to draw a huge crowd as seen during the previous organised events," he added.
