Kuala Lumpur: Public Bank Bhd – Malaysia's third largest bank, is partnering China's Ant Financial Services Group, which operates the Alipay mobile wallet payment platform, to enable Malaysian merchants to use the Alipay mobile payment via the Quick Response Code (QR Code) technology.Public Bank Managing Director Tan Sri Datuk Seri Tay Ah Lek said the QR Code can be read by specific Point-of-Sale terminals installed at merchant outlets."With the expanding business alliance between China and Malaysia, we believe in offering Alipay service to our existing and new merchants which will assist in increasing sales," he said after the launch of Alipay Service by Public Bank here yesterday.

"We will roll-out Alipay service to our existing and new in-store merchants as the mobile wallet has become an alternative cashless payment for Chinese tourists," he added Tay said the service was currently available at all Degem Collections, Lazo Diamond, L'OCCITANE, Malindo Airways, Star Cruise and Vitacare Pharmacy outlets.Operated by Ant Financial, Alipay is a leading mobile payment platform and lifestyle application which partners over 450 financial institutions and more than 520 million active users. – Bernama
