Kota Kinabalu: A Timorese girl sustained head and neck injuries when she was beaten up and stabbed by her 20-year-old Timorese boyfriend by the roadside of a nursing health college near Bukit Padang, Luyang, on Sunday.The 16-year-old is reported to be in a stable condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 (QEH 2) and endured five stitches at the back of her head and three stitches on her neck. In the 3.25pm incident on Aug 13, the victim was struck and stabbed by the suspect using a 9.5-inch long vegetable knife.

The suspect was immediately captured by the public and the victim and was rushed to the QEH 2 by her employer.City Police Chief ACP M.Chandra said police arrested the suspect after being handed over by public who witnessed the incident.
He said the suspect and the victim had an argument prior to the incident believed caused by jealousy plus the suspect being under the influence of alcohol. Police recovered the vegetable knife at the scene.

"The victim was a cook at a food stall in the parking lot in Taman Tun Fuad at Bukit Padang road here and the suspect is her boyfriend."The suspect who had no valid travel documents has been remanded for four days beginning Monday for further investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapon.
He said the police appreciated swift action of the public in helping the police to capture the suspect and for rendering channelling information about the incident to them.He also advised all employers to hire foreigners who possess work permits so as to avoid being taken legal action. - Hayati Dzulkifli
