Two women killed in tour bus-car collision

Papar: A collision between a Nissan tour bus and a Proton Saga at Km 4 Jalan Papar-Beaufort on Friday resulted in the death of two women, including an 87-year-old woman and another two people being injured. District Police Chief DSP Ladamah Sulaiman said the bus driven by a 45-year-old woman with three passengers, including the elderly woman and a seven-year-old boy, in the 3pm tragedy. Ladamah said the bus is believed to be heading from Kota Kinabalu to Weston and tried to avoid the upcoming car but failed, causing the Proton driver to be pinned in the car.

He said a small fire started after the collision but was put out by the public who also helped to take out the three passengers. The Proton driver was taken out by Fire and Rescue Department personnel. "The victims were rushed to Hospital Papar but the driver died upon reaching the hospital and the senior citizen who succumbed to her injuries also died at the hospital at about 8.30pm.
