Close China relations bring many benefits, says Musa

Kota Kinabalu: Close bilateral relations between Sabah and China bring many mutual benefits, says Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman. He said collaboration with China would be strengthened continuously to provide many development benefits, particularly in terms of education, culture, tourism and trade.

"China and Malaysia have a long history of over 40 years in friendly diplomatic relations.

"A comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is pushing for betterment of the development momentum," he said during the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, here, Wednesday.

Musa explained that the good relationship was achieved through various ongoing efforts by focusing on the same vision of maintaining peace, harmony, development and logistical cooperation.

"With this close relationship, the State Government of Sabah welcomes the presence of more tourists and investors from China to the State to achieve win-win cooperation so that more projects could be realised within the corresponding development strategy in Sabah," he said.

Musa also welcomed the arrival of the new Chinese Consul General in Sabah, Liang Caide, who replaced Chen Peijie, the first Chinese consul in Sabah. Present at the ceremony was Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his consort Toh Puan Hajah Norlidah Tan Sri RM Jasni.

Also present were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Syed Abas Syed Ali, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang, City Hall Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai and Assistant Ministers. - Locksley Ng
