Pekira sets up KB branch

Kota Belud: A Peninsular-based political party currently awaiting registration – the People's Economy Party of Malaysia (Pekira) – has set up a protem branch, here.The party based on the struggles of the Entrepreneur Malaysian Richmind Affiliate Club (MRAC), focuses on issues faced by entrepreneurs.

Pekira President Datuk Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah said it is supportive of the Barisan Nasional (BN).

"We will focus on entrepreneurs and youth issues. Since the past few years, I observed that the problems faced by these groups, some of which have been deflected by political parties and some are neglected, but they came and believed in MRAC.

"We are committed to help in coping with the living cost of the people, especially entrepreneurs and youths," he said.

Mohd Redzuan said the party is awaiting approval of the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

It reportedly has 257 members.

Pekira also launched protem offices in Tambunan, Keningau and Kota Marudu, this month.

Also present were Managing Director of MRAC Dato Mohd Arif Hamdi Dr. Haji Che Hamat, Sabah Pekira Chairperson, Mohd Safri Gomboh Abdullah, State Chief Information Officer Jubrine Sugari and members of the Kota Belud Pekira Committee chaired by Ronald James Stephen. - Gindanau Sakat
