Kuala Lumpur: DAP must fulfil 11 conditions for its upcoming central executive committee (CEC) re-election, including one that party leaders tout as "unprecedented" for a political organisation. Its National Organising Secretary Anthony Loke (pic) said the Registrar of Societies (RoS) has instructed the party to publish a Call Notice in all major newspapers informing delegates of the CEC re-election date.

DAP is also required to have the newspapers print the call notice on the same date the delegates are to receive the formal letters informing them of the polling date.

"DAP is getting special treatment from the RoS," Loke quipped at the press conference held at the party's headquarters here Monday.

"This is unprecedented… no political parties in history have ever received such instructions and yet we have.

"But it's OK. We will fulfil it," the Seremban MP added.

RoS and DAP recently came to an agreement on the terms and conditions for a third re-election after a five-year legal deadlock. The regulator announced on Sunday that it had agreed to the appointment of an independent auditor to oversee the polling process.

RoS Director General Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah said DAP has already appointed Grant Thornton to hold the re-elections on November 12.

The American audit firm is auditing the list of delegates and in the process of making the necessary arrangements to meet the conditions set by the RoS, Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng said Monday.

Speaking at the same press conference, Lim said the party will publicise the list once the audit is finalised.

"Holding the third re-election will prove that we have nothing to hide nor fear," Lim told reporters.

The RoS had deemed the election of DAP's CEC members and key positions through the re-election on September 29, 2013, as unlawful. The re-election was held after the RoS ruled the 2012 polls as invalid due to a tabulation error.
