Goals galore as tournament kicks off

Kota Kinabalu: A goal-fest marked the opening of the Datuk Tawfiq Cup football tournament held at the Likas Synthetic Pitch last week.Likas United FC II who thrashed Sporting Kinabalu 8-0 went top in Group A while Racing Athletics FC also scored big with their 5-1 win over AMV FC Kimanis in the same group.

Two other teams who managed to score at will were Putra United Kota Belud who hammered Kudat Cool FC 7-0 to top Group E and Juat FC from Keningau who blanked Terra Queen FC KK 5-0 led in Group C.

Other results saw Group B leaders RMP FC defeat Kapazan Real FC 3-1 with Baracuda FC Pensiangan in second spot following their 2-1 win over The Blues FC KK.

In another Group C match, MD FT KK edged KEE United Tawau 1-0 while Teambau FC Kota Belud registered a 4-2 win over TPS FC KK in Group D.

The inaugural tournament held only on weekends is organised by Titingan Football Club (TFC) together with Real Event, Mizanis Sports Boutique (MSB), Yunus Property Consultant Sdn Bhd and Panzer.

23 teams are taking part in the tournament with a total prize money of RM29,000 plus trophy and medals. - GL Oh
