Challenges like what Berjaya and PBS went through, says Warisan

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Sabah has likened the challenges it is now facing with what Parti Berjaya and Parti Bersau Sabah went through in 1976 and 1985, respectively.

Its Information Chief Honorsius Bosuin said in a statement that despite the political challenges faced by the two parties, they successfully brought down the ruling governments.

He said Warisan, which is exactly a year old on Monday, has been challenged lately with the arrest of several of its senior leaders by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Despite this, he called on party leaders at all levels to keep up the momentum of people's support in all polling districts.

"Programmes will be running as usual with focus on party support in the east coast, west coast, north, interior and urban areas," he said.

He claimed the rising support of the people to the party has become a threat to the Barisan Nasional, particularly Umno.

He also said the party is highly committed to implementing the Malaysian Agreement 1963 and has established a secretariat that gathers a panel of researchers to look into Sabah's position in the federation.

"Our manifesto has been drafted based on research by experts in various fields.

It will be the basis for the party to return the power to the people in matters relating to managing its rich resources and fair distribution of opportunities to all Sabah natives," he said.

He also said Warisan is led by a leader who has proven leadership experience at local and international level, and capable of taking the party to victory in the coming general election.
