1,000 expected for Saga Run

Sandakan: Around 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the Sukan Sabah (Saga) 2017 run in conjunction with the upcoming 8th Saga sports event here, said Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) Deputy President Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain.He said the run will be open to all including government agencies, private agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGO), students and individuals.

"There is no entrance fee and those who successfully complete the run will get a certificate and medal in addition to lucky draw tickets," he said.

Hamsan said this during a press conference regarding the run, Monday.

The 10-kilometre run will be held at the MPS Council square starting from 7am on Nov 26.

Participants will start from the square to the Sim-Sim highway, to the Duchess of Kent road, to the Sung Siew Road and back to the square.

The run also aims to promote the 8th Saga sports event which will be held from Dec 9 to 15 this year, in which Sandakan is also the host.

MPS President Datuk James Wong and Youth and Sports Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Awang Damit Awang Anak are expected to officiate the flag-off ceremony.
