Penampang: Parti Bersatu Sabah has long prepared for the coming 14th General Election and expressed full confidence in contributing fully to Barisan Nasional's victory."We are ready. We will fight to win all (13 state and five parliamentary) seats," said PBS Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.
Speaking after chairing the PBS Supreme Council Meeting at the party's headquarters, here, he urged all branches and divisions to work hard to meet their target. "While focus is given to our lost seats, we must not neglect those we won," he said.
Ongkili, who is also the acting president after being passed the presidency baton by PBS President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and Supreme Council members last year, said the party leaders will attend a PBS election preparatory workshop (Pemukiman PBS) scheduled for three days beginning Jan 12 to 14.
"Just after the Christmas break, we will sit down to discuss on our political strategies, as part of PBS preparation for GE14," he said. PBS lost six state seats namely Matunggong, Inanam, Api-Api, Sri Tanjong, Tamparuli and Kadamaian, and also the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat.
Meanwhile, the PBS Supreme Council also today approved the membership of three senior and experienced leaders from Matunggong.
They are former Bandau Member of Parliament, Henry Madatang, and former Matunggong assemblymen and ex-state assistant ministers, Datuk Mathius Majihi and his younger brother, Datuk Markus, respectively.
"They have expressed to be fully committed to assist BN in recapturing the Matunggong state seat with bigger majority," said Ongkili.
