13 JPs sworn in before Malanjum

Kota Kinabalu: Thirteen newly appointed Justices of the Peace (JP) were sworn in before Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Richard Malanjum at the Kota Kinabalu High Court, Thursday.The newly appointed JPs were Omar Raisul AS Salam Syah Sulaiman, Mohd Rashid Mohd Tahir, Hajah Rokiah Salleh, Dr Edmind Guntis, Datuk Harris Mathew, Datuk Peter Pang, Chai Yun Kiong @ Joseph Chai, Datin Lai Nyat Yin @ Vicky Yee, Yamani Hafez Musa, Normalah Rasik, Hairul Vaiyron Othman, Mosinal @ Richard Kastum and Kevin Koh Chen Foong.

During the swearing ceremony, Malanjum stressed that no fee shall be payable, other than stamp duty for any act done by a JP as such and shall give their services free of charge.

He further said it is particularly expected that all JPs shall exercise their powers and duties as such with dignity.

Majlis Jaksa-Jaksa Pendamai Sabah (Majaps) President, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Clarence Bongkus Malakun also presented to Malanjum a memento in respect of the MAJAPS-SLA Seminar 2017 'Justice and Rights – The Way Forward' which was held last year, here, during the ceremony.

Also present were Majaps Deputy President Datuk Lawrence Thien, Datuk Claudius Roman, Datuk Gordon Leong (Secretary), Datuk Katherine Lee (Assistant Secretary), Datuk Kevin Lim (Exco Member), Dr Oh Ei Sun (Exco Member) and Mej (K) Al Hambra (Exco Member).
