Sandakan: Elected representatives of the Warisan-led State Government in Sandakan have been reminded that the honeymoon is over and the people want to see everyday problems affecting them to be resolved.Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Sabah Chairman Hamzah Abdullah said there are six elected representatives from Sandakan, Batu Sapi and Libaran who have been made ministers and assistant ministers.

While all of us are aware that they are busy with their ministerial duties, but they have their officers in their respective offices here and these officers should keep abreast of what is happening on the ground and find solutions to address issues affecting the people, Hamzah said.

"They should not give lame excuses like the problems have been inherited from the previous government when responding to a complaint. While there is some truth to it, the people voted them to power so they should be rectifying these problems," Hamzah said.

When they were in the opposition, they criticised and lambasted the then government for not doing their work, now the scenario has changed as they are in the government and have the authority to address those issues, Hamzah continued.

He was commenting on the sewage clogged behind Lebuh Dua which was not attended to for more than a week.

The situation deteriorated until filthy water overspilling onto the five-foot way, he added.

"Almost two months down the road, regrettably there is not a slight indication things are changing for the better as compared to before in Sandakan," Hamzah said.

Hamzah hopes the elected representatives have not forgotten the people voted for them because they wanted to see changes and improvement.
