Our veterans shine in China

Kota Kinabalu: KY Badminton Club returned with three gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the 47th World Veteran Morning Cup Badminton Championships & Wu Wen Ta Memorial Badminton Championship 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan recently.Datuk Anthony Linggian with Zaini Garip captured the first gold in the men's doubles (65 year category) in their first attempt and Zaini also took the gold in the singles while the other gold was won SM Lee and his partner Roland Petrus in the doubles (45 year category).

John Ho captured the silver in the men's veteran singles (75 years category) and the bronze came from SM Lee and his son Lee Ying.

Team manager Hj Ahmat Alimuddin who praised the players for putting the club on world stage said a total of 18 players from the club took part in the four-day tournament which saw a participation of 4,000 players from all over the world.

He thanked Club President Datuk KY Mustafa, Patron Datuk Seri Salleh Said and Ben Wong from Ararat Sports for their support.

He also disclosed that they will be preparing for the World Veteran Circuit to be held from November 1-4 in Chengdu, China.
