Pitas crash claims 3 young cousins
Pitas: A camping trip turned tragic after a single-cab vehicle skidded and lost control, leaving three young cousins dead and four others injured along Jalan Bangkau-Bangkau, here, Monday morning.District Police Chief Supt Mohd Izaan Abdullah said the incident happened at about 10.30am when a couple was on the way to Pantar Terunggu from Kg Pantai Kanibongan with their nephews.

"Upon reaching the scene, the driver lost control of the Isuzu Dmax before crashing and turning turtle on the right of the road, trapping the victims underneath," he said.

"The deceased were three children – two girls aged 10 and a seven-year-old boy – who were seated in the open cargo area," he added.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said the dead have been identified as Loris Lorzen, Lisrerealcka Hamadus and Sizon Januin. The injured are Larryko Laitin, 25, Jazzy, 5, Nena Muijan, 22, and Aaron Gaman, 9.

All victims have been taken to the Pitas Hospital for treatment while a post-mortem is being conducted on the three killed. - Jeremy S Zabala
