22,000 visitors expected at Homedec and Ipex Exhibition
Kota Kinabalu: The Homedec and Ipex Exhibition, Sabah's biggest home design and property exhibition, opens today for three days of the latest in home designs, architecture and interior solutions at the Sabah Trade Centre. This edition of the semi-trade exhibition features over 60 companies from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia, taking up 180 booths. Over 22,000 visitors comprising industry practitioners as well as homeowners are expected to visit the exhibition.

C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd has been organising the Homedec Exhibition in Sabah since 2011, while Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) has held its flagship Ipex since 1998.

Three years ago, the two organisations decided to bring the exhibitions together to bring the architecture, home décor and interior industry to the forefront for the Borneo region, to serve the booming home décor and interior segments, as well as the property development and building sector, here.

The event was officiated by Assistant Trade and Industry Azhar Datuk Matussin, who represented Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

Tangau in his speech read by Azhar said the collaboration provides a platform that serves the demands of architecture, properties and home interior and designs sector.

"I believe both Ipex and Homedec give the opportunity for participants and visitors to discuss trade, collaborations and business networks, meet face-to-face with visitors and homeowners for the latest technology, innovation products of the markets. Ipex and Homedec joining hands together has proven to be an effective platform in strengthening the industry's ecosystem, facilitating thousands of industry stakeholders in making the right connections.

"I am confident that this event will allow various industry stakeholders to tap into uncharted business territories and build the right partnerships along the way," he said.

PAM Sabah Chapter President, Arnold Kwan said the combined exhibition has opened more doors for business development among exhibitors.

"The exhibition also affords a much wider range of choices and sophisticated new materials for architects and other building professionals, thereby contributing to the growth of the architecture and home interior industry as a whole for East and West Malaysia."

C.I.S President Dato' Vincent Lim said the strategic collaboration with PAM is aligned to one of Homedec's principle aims of being at the forefront of growing businesses and to continue to lead the industry alike, for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders.

"Aside from featuring leading names in the industry, this is also an opportunity to showcase new industry players, meet face-to-face with industry experts and the opportunity to bridge businesses or setting up of companies/branches here in Sabah."

When asked about the sales target during the three-day period, Lim said this year they expect sales above RM12 million.

"And based on our research of housing handing over units built in 2015 of 55,000 units, the renovation transaction estimated value is expected at RM800 million for new property renovations only. So, if you count the renovation projects of existing old homes, the amount should be higher." - Neil Chan
