class="text-uppercase fw-semibold">Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Wildlife Department confiscated two carcasses, believed to be barking deers, at a roadblock set up at Sabah Foundation's concession area entrance gate at Sungai Millian, Tongod, Sunday.Its Public Relations Officer Siti Nur'ain Ampuan Acheh, in a statement Sunday, said the roadblock leading to the 9.05am seizure was carried out following a tip-off about a group of hunters entering the area. The roadblock was a joint enforcement effort involving six staff from the Sabah Wildlife Department and two staff from the Sabah Forestry Department.

Four local men aged between 23 and 43 were also detained for investigation under Section 41(2) of the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997 for possession of a protected animal and animal products without a permit from the State Wildlife Department.

A police report was lodged at the Kinabatangan Police Station for further investigation by the Wildlife Department.
