Officer in critical condition
Kota Kinabalu: A veterinary officer with the Sabah Wildlife Department's Wildlife Rescue Unit (WRU), Dr Diana Ramirez, is currently in critical condition, believed due to the ingestion of a substance. Sabah Wildlife Director Augustine Tuuga, when contacted, confirmed the Mexican veterinarian's condition.

"I was told about what has happened to her by (Sabah Wildlife Department's assistant director) Dr Sen (Nathan)," he said.

He said Dr Ramirez had been in Sabah for about eight years and that the last time he was in communication with her was about a month ago.

She was attached to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park that recently was the subject of negative reports, including deaths of some of the animals.

She is currently warded at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, accompanied by her mother and sister who flew in from Mexico after learning about her condition.
