RM3.79m govt aid to 55 bodies in Sandakan

Sandakan: The Parti Warisan-led Sabah Government has allocated a total of RM34.64 million this year to assist non-Islamic religious bodies, mission schools and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJKs) Statewide.The allocation showed an increase of RM 3.208 million compared to the 2017 figure.For this year, a total of 554 schools and 279 non-Islamic religious bodies in the State benefited from the financial aid.

State Finance Assistant Minister cum Chairman of the Financial Aid to Non-Islamic Religious Bodies and Schools Committee, Kenny Chua, said the allocation reflected the State Government's equal concern for institutions regardless of faith in Sabah. "The State Government knows that such allocation is important to be continuously channelled for infrastructure repair and development of non-Islamic religious bodies and schools. "For this year, the State Government also provided an allocation for the construction and repair of pastors' and nuns' houses," he said at the presentation of 2018 financial aid to non-Islamic religious bodies and schools for the Sandakan Division at the SJKC Chi Wah hall, here.

A total of 34 primary and secondary schools as well as mission schools along with 21 non-Islamic religious bodies received the aid totalling RM3.795 million, with RM1.92 million for non-Islamic religious bodies and RM1.875 million for the schools.
