Express and OCDN bag 17 awards

Kota Kinabalu: Daily Express (DE) and Overseas Chinese Daily News (OCDN) bagged four gold awards and 13 merit prizes in various categories in the 26th Kinabalu Shell Press Awards on Saturday night.

DE's Sherell Ann Jeffrey won gold for English main journalism (Feature & News Feature), while Ricardo Unto won merit under the same category. For Chinese Feature & News Feature, Grevin Wong from OCDN won merit.

For English News Reporting, the DE team of Leonard Alaza, Mary Chin, Neil Chan, Kan Yau Chong, Cynthia Duris Baga, Zulhayati Dzulkifli, Ricardo Unto and Sherell Ann Jeffrey won merit.

For Chinese News Reporting, Bong Tze Pin from OCDN won merit.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal presented the awards. Also present were Shell Malaysia Chairman Datuk Ian Lo and Sabah Shell Petroleum General Manager Prithipal Singh.

For Business and Economic Reporting (English), Locksley Ng, Jegathisan A/L Sivanesan and Sherell Ann Jeffrey won gold, while for Business and Economic Reporting (Chinese), Grevin Wong won merit.

For English Sports Journalism, Ricardo Unto won merit, while for Chinese Sports Journalism, Grevin Wong won gold.

For Chinese Environmental Journalism and News Photography, Grevin Wong won merit.

For Entertainment Reporting (English), DE's Leonard Alaza won gold, while Jega A/L Sivanesan won merit.

For Entertainment Reporting (Malay), Stella Dumin of Harian Ekspres (DE) won merit.

Marcellus Benedict Puvok from DE won merit both for the Entertainment Reporting (KadazanDusun) and KadazanDusun Awards section.

DE stringer Lorena Binisol also won merit under the stringers' English language category. - Neil Chan
