Grads must continue learning: Jaujan
Kota Kinabalu: The new State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal really cares and is committed on education for young people in Sabah in its effort to further develop the State. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Jaujan Sambakong said because of this the State Government appreciates the presence of colleges like Kinabalu Commercial College (KCC) and others which give opportunities for the young to further their studies in the fields they like.

"What is important is the students successfully complete their respective study and get a job so they can use all that they have learnt in their respective career for the betterment of their life," he said when officiating the KCC Graduation Nite 2018 held at Pacific Sutera Hotel, here.

Jaujan, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, also urged students, especially those who have just graduated, not to be too complacent and stop learning new things, which is vital especially in this ever challenging era.

"For us to remain competitive during the ever challenging digital era, we must continue learning and be innovative and move along the advancement of technology," he said.

He was pleased to note that KCC has continued to provide a platform for young people in the State since 1968.

He said today there are 300 full and part-time students studying various courses like LCCI Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Tourism Management, Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Certificate in English Language and others.

Meanwhile, KCC Advisor Spencer Soo Kian Chee, in his opening speech, said over the past 50 years, the college has produced 10,000 or more graduates who have either made education progression locally or overseas, or secured their places in commerce and industry in the State.

All courses at the college were attended by Malaysian students as well as those from China, Korea, Myanmar, Vietnam and India, he said, adding that the college expects to introduce new courses like Diploma in Policing and Investigation and Diploma in Accountings early next year.

Jaujan also presented a scroll to 81 graduated students during the event. - Larry Ralon
