The offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to a year, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The court heard that the Andy’s sister, Lau Koh, 30, lodged a police report on the same day claiming that Chong Wang and Ching Kien had assaulted her boyfriend Phuah and her brother.
Chong Wang and Ching Kien had earlier assaulted Lau and Phuah tried to defend him but ended up being attacked also.
Investigations revealed that the incident happened because Lau failed to pay his debt of RM1,400 to Chong Wang and Ching Kien who are money lenders.
