SANDAKAN: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sabah extended help to frontliners as well as those negatively affected through its Covid-19 taskforce unit.

Taskforce chairperson Sahar Abdul Majid said the unit was established before the Movement Control Order (MCO) and has thus far spent RM161,000 to aid frontliners and the needy who do not have access to food during the period. He added that 2,500 face shields, blood pressure monitors, canopies, fans and dry foodstuff was also donated to frontliners at several healthcare facilities in the State. “Among the facilities we have helped are Duchess of Kent Hospital Sandakan, Tawau Hospital, Semporna Hospital, Sabah Health Department in Kota Kinabalu, Keningau Hospital and Putatan Clinic,” he said. He added that the taskforce also provided food for those suffering the impact of MCO, including the poor and families who have lost their income sources. “More than 4,000 families received grocery donations. They were from Papar, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Kalabakan, Putatan, Lahad Datu, Keningau, Sandakan, Kudat, Ranau, Kinabatangan, Tuaran and Kota Belud,” he said. Sahar expressed its commitment in continuously helping the Government to fight Covid-19 through such charity work, which is also timely in line with the upcoming Ramadhan month.

“Everyone is welcomed to take part in this mission which requires a lot of funding so that it will successfully eradicate Covid-19,” he said.
