Kota Kinabalu: Fifty-five people are presently warded for the influenza A (H1N1) at hospitals throughout Sabah. The Cabinet Committee for H1N1 said the number of schools shut because of the virus remained at nil.
Due to the shortage of antiviral medicine, the Committee reminded that the public could also get the medicine from private health facilities under the Prevention and Treatment of Influenza A (H1N1) campaign, which was launched by Health Minister, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai recently.
The medicine could be obtained at not more than RM80 a box. Private health facilities that wished to join the network could surf the website www.h1n1.net.my for further information.
In TAWAU, the district health department will be organising a programme called Training of Trainer, involving several target groups to prevent the spread of the influenza A (H1N1).
District Health Officer, Dr Jiloris F. Dony said the programme is scheduled in September, starting from 8am to 12.30pm.
The programme was aimed at training participants to become agents to relay important information on the prevention of the virus to their peers or colleagues.
Apart from that, the programme was also targeted to encourage the active participation of the community in stopping the spread of the flu strain.
About 30 people involving health workers, Neighbourhood Watch members, schoolchildren, Higher Learning Institution students and non-governmental organisations, among others, are expected for the programme.
