Sandakan: A total of 440 new technologies including services have so far been introduced by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) this year, said its Chairman Datuk Sabri Ahmad.He said of the number, 28 latest technologies and 18 services were founded this year to enhance the production of palm oil in the country.

He said this in his speech at the launching of a first seminar on the transfer of technology in the palm oil industry, here, Monday.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Tan Sri Bernard G. Dompok officiated the seminar attended by 150 participants from Sabah and Sarawak who were mostly members of the East Malaysia Palm oil Planters Association (EMPA).

The participants were exposed to new technologies that could cater for the needs of the palm oil industry especially in the upstream sector. Also present was EMPA Chairman Othman Walat.

Sabri said the annual seminar is a good platform to introduce new technologies discovered by the MPOB scientists, especially in enhancing the commercial value and services of the nation's palm oil industry.
