He touched land at the Persiaran Traulsen in Batu-Batu area, Sabindo, at about 10.30am after swimming for five hours from Sungai Nyamuk, Indonesia.

He was flagged off by the Sebatik Indonesia District Officer who was representing Nunukan Governor Baharuddin D. Sutte.

During the duration, Ibrahim was accompanied by 25 media personnel from Indonesia.

Met later, he was glad to become the first Indonesian to swim across international waters.

On what were the challenges during the feat, he said he was tired by the waves and strong current but continued on in his bid to bring his country's name up to a higher pedestal.

He was further motivated by strong support from his family, friends and Indonesian delegation after his first attempt on Aug. 3, 2010 failed when he was stung by jellyfish.

This time, he prepared himself properly both physically and mentally including swimming 5km around Pulau Derawan.

Meanwhile, Acting Chief Consul at the Indonesia Consulate General Office here, W.R. Hendro considered it a delayed success.

He hoped the success would be able to foster greater relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
