Kota Kinabalu: Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred M. Bumburing wants a full explanation from the Home Minister for rejecting the call to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry on issuance of ICs to non-Malaysians in Sabah. He also urged Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein to explain what he meant by "we want something that's is practical, something that can be resolved and balanced between economic and security requirement."

He said the continued rejection by the Federal Government in setting up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the issuance of ICs to non-Malaysian under the "Project IC" is giving an impression to the people of Sabah that the Federal Government has something to hide.

"People in Sabah and Malaysian as a whole are under the impression that something is being hidden from them and they are demanding an explanation," he said in a statement on Monday.

He feared the people in Sabah would express their objection in the next general election if the Home Ministry continue to deny the call.

The continued denial by the Home Minister over this issue is mocking the intelligence of Malaysians in Sabah.

"Surely the Government must have realised the severity and security of the State is at stake.

"This is especially so when someone holding a Malaysian IC recently daringly declared himself as Sultan of another country. Surely this serious enough for the government to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry," he said.

Bumburing said that during the previous Parliamentary sitting, he handed over to the Home Ministry a memorandum that contain proof of foreigners who have managed to obtained Malaysian ICs and subsequently register as voters and joined Malaysian political parties.

To this, he called for the immediate revocation of all ICs issued to foreigners through dubious means.

He also said that he would continue to bring this matter up in every Parliamentary Session until the Federal Government takes concrete steps to solve what he and other leaders have called the "mother of all problems."

He demanded the Home Minister to provide a concrete and complete explanation on how they can solve the problem after rejecting the call to set up the Royal Commission of Inquiry.
