Kota Kinabalu: A total of 131 students were picked the winners from among 357 schools which took part in a drawing competition last month for this year's Teachers' Day card.Altogether it was participated by about 170,000 students from various schools statewide.
The competition, which was held for the sixth consecutive year, was divided into two categories - free hand drawing and computer aided drawing. Each category was divided into Tahap 1 and Tahap 2.
Forty drawings were chosen out of the 1,020 entries received for the competition.
The chosen drawings will adorn 200,000 Teachers' Day cards which will be distributed to schools throughout the State.
The "Teachers' Day Card" ceremony was launched by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, here, Monday.
"A few years ago, it was very difficult to find a Teachers' Day greeting card, compared to other cards such as Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day.
So six years ago, we decided to come up with Teachers' Day greeting card," he said.
"And we decided to get the students involved in designing the cards.
Hence the idea of a drawing competition came about," he added.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is expected to attend the prize presentation ceremony in July.
