Improved KK Jazz Fest in store

Kota Kinabalu: One of the striking differences about this year's KK Jazz Festival is its line up, which includes international names and highly talented local bands and singers. Acknowledging the immense talent of the people from the Land Below the Wind, KKJF serves as a stage in showcasing our local artists. Celebrity DJ Serena C will be emcee for the event.

This was disclosed by the 5th KK Jazz Festival 2011 Committee when they paid a Courtesy Call on Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah recently.

The Organizing Committee members briefed the officials of the Ministry about the latest developments of the 5th KK Jazz Festival 2011 scheduled to be held on 17 & 18 June 2011 (Friday & Saturday ) at the Covered Tennis Court, Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club.

Rotary Club Vice President Jack Ong said the event is an annual fund raising jazz extravaganza jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) and the Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS).

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.

This year, KKJF is giving away 4 units of HTC ARIA, 2 units of Blackberry Bold 9700 and 2 units of Blackberry Curve mobile phones during the lucky draw over the two nights of the festival, prizes courtesy of Digi (winners will have to sign up for a Digi plan).

According to Jack Ong, KKJF recorded a crowd of over 1,500 people during the 2 night performance in year 2010.

KK Jazz Festival is also the only non-profit jazz festival in Malaysia.

Organized by two leading NGOs - Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu and Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah.

The money is used to fund deserving community projects run by the Rub of Kota Kinabalu, such as the "Clean Water Project" in rural areas of Sabah.

Tickets are now on sale at all Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf outlets in Kota Kinabalu at an early bird price of RM50 per night. Tickets are also available for sale at door at RM60 per night.

The KK Jazz Festival is now a signature event in the Sabah's annual calendar of events, and is also a key component of the Kota Kinabalu Arts Festival.
