Kuala Lumpur: eBay's Asian exporters experienced a 26 per cent jump in annual sales across the region, according to a report released by eBay Monday. The Asian Exporters' Index found this increase was posted by large Asian exporters with an annual turnover of more than US$100,000(US$1 = RM3.1175).
In Malaysia, sales from large exporters on eBay, an online marketplace, grew 20 per cent year-on-year, with books topping the export categories, followed by clothing and accessories, autoparts, sporting goods, jewellery, gems and watches.

This highlights Malaysia's growth as a manufacturing hub with an increasing number of businesses locating their production operations here, the report said.
The eBay Asian Exporters' Index looks at some of the most successful businesses selling on eBay from across Asia.
The report also highlighted the opportunities for Malaysian exporters on eBay to gain greater exposure to the international marketplace with eBay expanding its footprint in South East Asia.
"eBay is leveraging its export-trade platform to provide global opportunities for merchants in Malaysia and increasing selection for consumers worldwide," said Head of eBay Southeast Asia and Middle East, Jason Lee.
eBay's global marketplace provides an ideal store front for Malaysian exporters seeking to attract customers among the 97 million active eBay users around the world.
While Malaysian exporters primarily sell on eBay's US, Australian, UK and Canadian websites, buyers are truly global with purchases from Brazil among the fastest growing. - Bernama
