Putatan: Negotiations on the allocation of seats among Pakatan Rakyat (PR) components - Parti Keadilan Rakyat, PAS and DAP - are now in the final stages, said PKR Deputy President Azmin Ali.He said discussion in most constituencies had been completed and that the PR leadership is in the process of identifying the candidates so that they can focus on the coming election.

Speaking to reporters after attending the Sabah PKR Election Preparatory Meeting that was attended by 16 Sabah PKR divisions, Saturday, he disclosed that in the PR discussion they also talked about the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) as a partner in the election.

"This shows that Pakatan is prepared to face the election," he said.

At the same time, Azmin said Sabah PKR had identified more young, professionals with good academic backgrounds to be fielded in the 13th General Election.

However, he said it did not mean that old faces would be sidelined because the leadership also takes into consideration the grassroots support.

Meanwhile, Azmin said the attendance of leaders from the party's 16 divisions in Sabah at the meeting showed they supported the appointment of Ahmad Thamrin Jaini as the Sabah PKR chief.

Ahmad Thamrin was re-appointed to head the Sabah PKR after President Datuk Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail took over the interim management through a Presidential Council to quell the internal leadership bickering in the party's state leadership.

According to Azmin, two more PKR leaders from Sabah would be appointed as Supreme Council members and this would be announced by the president early next month.

Attending the meeting with Azmin from the party central leadership were Penang Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Mansor Osman, Women Chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian, Deputy Secretary General Darell Leiking and Supreme Council member, Dr Roland Chia.

Ahmad Thamrin when met said as a party that practised democracy the members have the right to voice out their opinions.

Hence, he welcomed feedback from party members on his appointment as Sabah PKR chief.

"I will respect whatever the members say and I don't see any problem about it," he said, adding he was confident that all party members in the state would work hand-in-hand to ensure PKR excelled in the coming election.
