Kuala Lumpur: A large-scale operation will be carried out throughout the country starting mid-February, to identify 1.3 million illegal immigrants, who did not register during the 6P Amnesty Programme. The operation will be jointly carried out by the Immigration Department, Police, Armed Forces, Rela, Civil Defence Forces and local councils.
Immigration Department Director-General Datuk Alias Ahmad said the operation would involve 1,400 enforcement officers and 2.8 million RELA members.
"The operation will start once the dateline for the registration of illegal immigrants under the 6P programme ends on Feb 15," he said, Thursday.
Under the 6P programme, 370,000 illegal immigrants have been registered.
Alias said the Government had given enough time for illegal immigrants to register themselves under the programme. - Bernama
