Kota Kinabalu: Electricity disruption due to maintenance being carried out throughout Sabah from Jan 30 is expected to last two more weeks, according to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).SESB Senior General Manager (asset management), Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim, said the company is forced to use demand side management (DSM) to minimise the impact of generation capacity loss of 152MW in the Sabah grid.
"The use of DSM is to meet the electricity demand in Sabah, and it is hoped this will give a positive impact to the existing electricity supply stability," he said in a statement.
Ahmad Fuad advised consumers to use electricity prudently to avoid wastage of energy.
In SANDAKAN, SESB General Manager (distribution), Ahmad Sazree Abdul Aziz, said the company suffered losses amounting to RM1.8 million last year owing to illegal electricity connections in the State.
Many of the illegal extensions were found in houses, with 4,900 houses identified as illegal receivers of electricity, he said.
