Body of nude woman found in Moyog

Penampang: The nude body of a woman believed to be in her 20s was found stuck among branches in the Moyog River, near Kg Kodundungan, Jalan Terawi, early Monday. A villager, Samuel Kana Bota, 40, spotted what he thought at first was an animal carcass some 300 metres from where he was fishing. Later, he realised that it was a body of a woman.

He immediately alerted the police and the Fire and Rescue Department. Another villager, 22, known only as John, said he was at home when a friend alerted him of the discovery."Several villagers and myself were shocked to discover the body which was stuck between the branches in the river."I was fishing in the area several days ago but didn't see the body," he said, adding he believed the current washed the body downstream.

Meanwhile, District Police Chief DSP Ratan Singh, said they are waiting for post mortem results on the cause of death but currently the case is classified as sudden death. Ratan said due to the recent heavy downpour there could be a possibility that the body was washed downstream.
