Kota Kinabalu: Pro Barisan Nasional Pakatan NGO said it has proof of those slandering Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and is prepared to take legal action against them. Its President Zulkarnain Mahdan said the organisation has gathered evidence in the form of recordings from people who have defamed the Chief Minister.

The NGO, he said, recently commissioned about 300 people throughout Sabah to record conversations with those slandering him.

"The recordings can be used to sue them for defamation and slander and we have appointed three lawyers who are ready to file the suit once we have the approval from the Chief Minister to sue these people on his behalf," he said, Monday.

Zulkarnain said the NGO is in the midst of arranging a meeting with Musa to seek his approval over the matter.

Those who spread slander and defame Musa, he said, have no basis or facts to do so.

"I have met them and asked them what proof and facts they have and they could not provide it to me," he said.

As a former Reformasi follower, Zulkarnain said such is the modus operandi of slanderers.

He said allegations by the opposition regarding Musa such as the latter's so-called involvement in the RM40 million purportedly found on Sandakan businessman Michael Chia's possession, as well as Musa's alleged purchase of thousands of acres of land in Sabah, were all meant to slander the Chief Minister.

To this end, he expressed admiration for Musa who continues working for the people despite being defamed and slandered.

Under Musa, Zulkarnain said, the State saw vast improvement to its economy, financial resources and management.

"So, why do we need to change the State's leadership?

We have a good leader in Musa," he said.

In another development he said the people should not be suspicious of the Government for setting up the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate illegal immigrants and issuance of Malaysian identification documents in Sabah.

Zulkarnain said they should look at it from a positive perspective because the Government is really sincere to transform itself.

He said the formation of the RCI was fully supported by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak-led government and also Musa.

"I am very certain that what the Government is doing is to protect the rights of the citizens of Malaysians in Sabah," he said.

At the same time, he also urged the people not to be easily influenced by the opposition who are trying their best to manipulate the situation.

He said the opposition should instead provide ideas or inputs as to how to resolve the issue.

Zulkarnain said the people should wait until the RCI has completed its investigation before drawing any conclusions.

"So, I appeal to the people to continue supporting the BN," he said, adding that the RCI formation is proof of Najib's leadership.
