Kuala Lumpur: FedEx Corporation has expanded its healthcare shipping portfolio with a new cold shipping package option. This new temperature control packaging portfolio allows shipments to be refrigerated at two-eight degrees Celsius, up to 96 hours, and will particularly benefit the healthcare industry.
In a statement Monday, the company said the new packaging portfolio is currently available in 13 markets across the Asia Pacific region, among them, Australia, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Malaysia.
The patented system, built by NanoCool, is easy to use, reliable, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
"It achieves a temperature of four degrees Celsius in less than five minutes without the use of gel packs or dry ice.
"The packaging device maintains its exacting "cold ship" temperature requirements with a special cooling system that evaporates water over time and can be activated by merely pushing the button inside the box," said FedEx.
"We are seeing increasing demand for temperature-controlled shipping that is matching the rapid growth of the healthcare sector across Asia Pacific," said David L. Cunningham Jr President, Asia Pacific FedEx.
He said the two most critical factor affecting healthcare transportation are time and temperature.
"Customers in the healthcare industry will benefit from this portfolio specialty service," he added.
FedEx has also a dedicated support team that works hand-in-hand with companies to engineer ideal solutions to help healthcare customers stay competitive.
