Sabah sending two teams

Kota Kinabalu: Two teams from Sabah will participate in the Mykids Soccer National Level Tournament to be held at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Serdang, Selangor from Nov 23-29.According to head youth coach from the State Sports Council Osmera Omaro who is in charge of the Mykids programme here in Sabah, they have assembled 20 players to compete in the Under-12 category while 15 players for the Under-10 category.

He said the Under-12 category will also serves as a qualifying round for the Champions of Champions Tournament to be held in Gambang, Pahang on December 16-21.

He is hoping that both teams will do well this year especially the senior team who managed to qualify for the Champions of Champions tournament last year where they finished in third place.

"The Under-12 players had been training very hard in preparation for the tournament and hopefully they will do even better this year."

He also said another Sabahan Mohd. Alias Alan from SK Pasir Putih, Tawau will be playing for the Project 2019 team (targeted by the Committee to qualify for the 2019 Youth World Cup) in the Under-12 category as well.

He added that there were two other players called up for the national squad but they had to turn down the opportunity as they have to represent the State Education Department at the Education Ministry's U-11 Talent Camp Carnival which unfortunately falls on the same date.

Both teams are under Osmera with the Under-12 team led by SK Likas coach Norsi Sabtari and the Under-10 team by Mohd Zumri Atim while other officials accompanying the teams are Danny Tan, Marusoh Useh, Andy Nasar, Salimin Musneh and Awal Tham.
