Penampang: The United States (US) will be sending 10 of its young citizens to Sabah next year to assist in teaching English to people in the remote areas in the State. United States Ambassador to Malaysia, Joseph Vun, said this would be under an English Language Teaching Assistance programme which has been extended to Sabah.
"This is also meant to build up and improve our people-to-people relationship throughout Malaysia including in Sabah," he said.

This is part of the programmes to be implemented under the government-to-government collaboration between the US and Malaysia as well as Sabah State Government, he said in a press conference after he officially opened the Wildlife Health, Genetic and Forensic Laboratory at Lok Kawi, here, Monday.
Yun, who is on his maiden visit to Sabah after his appointment three months ago, also feels fortunate to have come to Malaysia this time around when the US relationship with the region including Malaysia was improving.
"I feel great to be in Sabah because of its friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The US is based on multi-cultural, multi-religion and an open society, so to me it is very refreshing to come here and meet people from many ethnic and religious backgrounds," he said.
"Tolerant society is a model for the globe as a whole," he added.
