Semporna: The Education Ministry has approved an allocation of about RM26 to RM27 million for the construction of a new SMK Kabogan II building, thus ending the issue concerning the school which is presently squatting at SK Bubul II. Second Education Minister Datuk Idris Jusoh said the project would be opened for tender in August and work was expected to commence in January next year. The proposed new school building will have 24 classrooms, he said, adding the site for this project involving 29 acres had been identified and found suitable for the purpose. The only thing we need to ensure is there will be no problem on the link road to the school later, like what happened to a school in Tawau which does not have the link road until the school cannot be used," he said. The school building, when completed, will be able to accommodate about 1,000 students and teachers of SMK Kabogan I and II, he told reporters when visiting the school project site, accompanied by Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal and Deputy Education Minister I Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching.
