S'wak Minister glad over outcome
Keningau: Sarawak Assistant Minister of Culture and Heritage, Liwan Lagang, commended the Upko, PBS and PBRS Youth movements for teaming up in order to fight for the rights of Sabahans through the signing of an MoU here."I am proud to see that Sabah youth have taken the first step to go further by joining forces in between them.

Understanding as well as unity is the main ingredients for success and the MoU signed today shows that the youths of Sabah has reached the threshold of that destiny.

"I come here not to advise, but to learn. Towards that end, I realised that the change that is taking place here today has begun following positive attitudes. And from the glitters of the youths' eyes I see today, I see boldness in them.

"The three of them are all great; they are leaders in their own accord.

Therefore the right attitude that we must take is to be bold.

When we are bold, it doesn't mean that we want to have other people's rights.

All the three youth leaders here are asking for is to demand for the rights that are rightfully theirs in the first place," he said.

Speaking at the signing of the MoU in a hotel here, Liwan who is also Youth Chief of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), said no other people who could understand one's selves better than themselves alone.

"Other people or parties from other states could never understand Sabah as good as the parties from Sabah itself. That is why the responsibilities lie on your own shoulder.

"I hope that Youth from PRS will be there to join you when your next assembly takes place," he said.

Liwan said the three youth leaders from Upko, PBS and PBRS were the right candidates because they were honest, committed, intelligent and knowledgeable although one thing that stood out the most was their boldness.

"And now it leaves you with only one ingredient to be successful is for you to stick together in supporting your leaders and you will get there.

I'm blessed to be given the chance to witness a historical event which take place here tonight and I don't want to miss to see the combination of the three parti anak-anak Sabah.

"Here before us we see the faces of future leaders of Sabah and having said that, we must ask ourselves why should we support other parties who doesn't even understand the needs of the state?

"We are not arrogant, but we must have our pride.

We are not telling those from the Peninsular that they are inferior, because they are brilliant. That is why they were able to control us.

But are you going to let them control you for all generations?

"From the look of you, I see that that would not happen... and that will change beginning from tonight as the MOU is being sign in front of us all.

I pray that from now on this combination will play its role in creating its masterpiece in the political landscapes of Sabah," he said.

Liwan said, when Sarawak tabled the review of the royalty from five per cent to 20 percent in the Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak last May, everybody in the Dewan, even from the opposition said in unison a big 'Yes'!

"And I'm very glad to know that the Youth combination from Upko, PBS and PBRS also supports this motion.

And I will tell my President that I have been here to listen and learn and he will be impressed with this development.

"I am very inspired and proud of my President because he is very bold and willing to voice out his mind without fear.

Tonight, I see in the three Youth leaders here similar traits that my President posses," he said.

In the event, Upko Youth Chief, Arthur Sen, PBRS Youth Chief, Arthur Kurup and PBS Youth Chief, Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin sign a MoU to work together in unison to fight for the rights of Sabahans.

Also present were PBS Vice President cum Advisory of Exco PBS, Mohd Balbir Arjan, Excos and members of the Youth of the three parties.
