Kota Kinabalu: A grooming school is on the cards for Sabah to help bring out the best in aspiring models in Sabah. In stating this Amber Chia Academy Sdn Bhd catwalk guru Benjamin Toong said grooming was important "as people would not do something if they do not know how to do it."

"Often Sabahans and Sarawakians when they travel anywhere in the world, it would be difficult for people to determine their origins due to their unique faces," he said.

"Maybe we can plan something out and get (Malaysian supermodel) Amber to train the people in terms of makeup and dressing up to have better fashion sense," he said.

He said this during the Malaysia Supermodel Search press conference at Novotel 1Borneo here, Monday.

He also said that those who did not make it for the Malaysia Supermodel Search 2014 audition on Sunday can still do so through online registration.

"We will have the next audition at Paradigm Mall in Selangor on July 20.

We do not have a deadline for the registration but I advise those interested to register as soon as possible," he said, adding that their official Facebook page is Malaysia Supermodel Search and their instagram is my_Malaysia Supermodel Search.

He also said he hoped more people will turn up next year as well as sponsors especially from Sabah, stating that there will also be ten episodes of reality shows whereby the links will be available on their Facebook page.

The winner of the Malaysia Supermodel Search he explained will be named as Malaysian Supermodel and will be able to sign for a modelling agency in Singapore.

"The winner will also be flown to Seoul, Korea for the Asia Model Festival Award (AMFA) between next March and April," he said, adding that Asia's Next Top Model Second Season winner, Sheena Liam was also one of their ex-students.

"There is no limit for those who come for auditions and we will choose the best. We will only choose the top 10 for the reality show," he said.

Earlier, according the academy's principal, Amber, they had been to Penang and were in Bintulu two days ago.

"Sabah is our third station and our final stop will be at Paradigm Mall in Selangor," she said, adding that there were a total of 100 people who turned up for the auditions on Sunday and are looking forward to bring those who made it to Kuala Lumpur.

Later, she also said that sometimes there are people who would never realise their talents until it is too late.

"Chances are only given to you once. You will lose it if you do not grab it.

Besides, you will never know what might happen later so do not wait," she advised.

"I have came across a lot of men and women who had always wanted to be models and they had waited for years. By the time they came forward, it is already too late," she said, giving as example the case of a 36-year-old woman who had wanted to be a model since she was 16.

Chia who was once a fishmonger working with her father in Tawau said one of the requirements in becoming a model is that a person should not be more than 26 years old.

"Wo, do not wait because you will never get the answer if you keep waiting," she said, adding that she believed that Malaysians have lots of talent.

"Do not worry about your looks because we are there to groom you," she said.

Meanwhile, Novotel Executive Assistant Manager, Vivian Chu also said that they hope to continue holding the event annually in the bid to produce good models to represent Malaysia.

She said that they had been the host for the Malaysia Supermodel Search 2014 as a sign of support for Amber in bringing up the academy besides promoting Malaysians' beauty in the world.

Malaysia Supermodel Search is an online based reality show presented by Paradigm Mall and sponsored by Philocaly.

It is open to the public between the age of 14 to 25 for the adult category and five to 11 for the children's category.
