Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's football team lost 1-3 in their second friendly match against the Brunei Under-23 selection on Tuesday night.Sabah took the lead through Leopold Alfonso in the 34th minute, courtesy of a pass from another youngster Maxsius Musa. Their joy was short lived as the host equalised a minute later as a result of defensive mix- up in the penalty area.

Both teams failed to convert any goal scoring chances after that and the scoreline remained till the end of the half.

Sabah who opted to start the match with Rendy Rening in goal, saw the youngster committed two errors two minutes after the restart when he failed to stop the second goal from 40 metres out while the third goal barely a minute later was scored after his poor clearance landed on a Brunei player's feet.

Assistant coach Burhan Ajui said the team played well overall and it was just some mistakes that needed to be rectified which resulted in the easy goals conceded.

The starting line-up for the Sabah team was almost the same as in the first match with the exception of Rendy Rening for Irwan Jamil, Tawifq Abd Hag for Badrul Affendy in the centre defender role and Sabri Sahar for Andre Esposito in midfield.

The rest of the players were defenders Dendy Powa, Rosdin Wasli, Alto Linus with midfielders Azizan Nordin, Didie Arizal and Maxsius Musa while the attacks were led y Marwan Sayedeh and Leopold Alfonso.

Earlier on Saturday, Sabah had to settle for a 1-1 draw with the same team and again they took the early lead through Marwan Sayedeh before Brunei forced a draw with a goal in the dying minutes.
