Stand united in hour of grief: PM

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday called on all Malaysians to stand united in the hour of grief, together in common prayer in honour of and to commemorate the victims of the Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 tragedy. "I call on all Malaysians to stand united in this hour of grief, together in common prayer. "No words can express the sense of loss in seeing the bodies return, my prayers are with the victims and families of #MH17," Najib said in a post on his Twitter account.

Najib was among those present at the Bunga Raya Complex of the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang to attend the ceremony to honour the 20 victims of the MH17 tragedy whose remains were flown home Friday. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah were also present at the ceremony, held at the complex located adjacent to the KLIA main terminal building. The special aircraft bearing the remains of the 20 Malaysians who died in the tragedy in eastern Ukraine on July 17, landed at 9.54 am and the remains were sent to the cemeteries decided on by the families. Forty-three Malaysians were among the 298 people killed in the tragedy when Flight MH17 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur went down in Ukraine.

It is believed that the aircraft was shot down over the troubled country.
