Kota Kinabalu: Community airline, MASwings, will suspend its thrice-weekly services from Kota Kinabalu to Puerto Princesa effective Sept 1 until further notice. In a statement, MASwings said the decision to suspend the flights was part of its network rationalisation to enable it to focus on growing its domestic routes.

Chief executive officer, Captain Ritzerwan Rashid, said MASwings played an important role to contribute to the local economic growth of Sabah and Sarawak by allowing linkages between villages in the interior to major towns and from there, connectivity to Peninsular Malaysia and internationally.

"There is much potential for MASwings to tap domestically and contribute to.

We have optimise our resources and focus on our domestic market for now," he said.
